I Rob Banks Because That’s Where the Money Is!
That quote was reportedly said by American bank robber Willie Sutton in 1951 and the premise still holds true today. Robbers rob where the goods are and unfortunately the goods are in your work van. Many workers take their tools in at night or at least the expensive ones, or the new ones, or the their favorite ones like the hammer grandpa brought over from Europe. How does one decide? How does one get the energy after a long work day? Plus it just isn't fair, those are your tools and no one should be stealing them, but they do. So you need to be diligent by taking the extra effort to park in the best spot, maybe under a street light and not behind a building out of sight. Install an alarm, chain up tools inside your van or have a lock box inside it, install a barrier wall between the cab and the cargo area and of course LOCK the van up with security deadbolt locks! You may choose puck locks because they are a little cheaper, but think about this no one can hit a target if they can't see the target. Puck locks are visible on the outside of a work van and that is the target for thieves. They know if they can get past that lock they are pretty much in the van, but with Thunderbolt deadbolt locks they can't see them because they are installed inside the door. Once a thief walks up to a van and reads the emblem plate that Anti-Theft Deadbolts are installed they have two decisions to make: 1. Try their bad luck breaking in and waste time while the alarm is sounding or 2. Walk off to the next easier opportunity. Sure your van door may get bent up and scratch, but no matter what you have installed on your van a thief is going to do damage, the difference is you will still have your tools the next day. So get Thunderbolt Anti-Theft Deadbolt Locks and rest assured you'll be working tomorrow! www.thunderboltlocks.com
This video literally shows you how quick a thief can cut through steel. With this same tool they can attack and cut the exterior exposed puck locks and brackets like butter! If you really want to secure your work truck, tools and cargo you need an interior deadbolt locking system. Thieves will look for the easy and valuable target and they also know that if a van has Puck Locks on the outside there's probably some good stuff on the inside.
Bottom line...they are vulnerable. If you look on Youtube you'll see a number of ways to break into a variety "PUCK" locks. (heat torch, pipe wrench, drill, picked, grinder) Additionally, how many times have you either seen a van driving or parked with the a mounted shackle and the puck lock missing? Why? Most likely because it's a pain to keep reaching in your pocket to get the right key to open the lock, remove the puck, open the door, get your materials or tools, shut the door, replace the puck, lock it back up and then realize you left your phone inside and have to do it all over again. Or have you seen where the bolts of the shakle has been ripped out of the door itself? The problem is if a thief can see the lock then they can attack the lock in one way or another.
